We are pleased to announce that we will be expanding the設置エリア (installation area) for dedicated collection bins for "food leftovers (leftover food)" and "drink leftovers (liquids)" from the Meiji Yasuda J1 Hundred-Year Vision League Regional League Round EAST Matchday 8 against JEF United Chiba on Sunday, March 22nd, to improve the convenience of waste collection within Mercari Stadium.
This initiative is a measure to make the "Waste Separation Rule Revamp" and "Principle of Using Paper for Food and Drink Containers", which have been implemented since Meiji Yasuda J1 Hundred-Year Vision League home games, more effective. By newly increasing the number of dedicated collection bins that were previously installed at eco-stations inside and outside the venue, to each garbage bin area inside the venue (concourse), we will establish a smoother separation and collection system.

Background and Purpose of this Initiative
Since the implementation of "Waste Separation Rule Revamp" and "Principle of Using Paper for Food and Drink Containers," we have received numerous valuable comments from our supporters, such as "I'm unsure how to dispose of containers with soup left in them" and "The area around the trash cans gets messy due to leftover drinks." With over 500,000 visitors to Mercari Stadium annually, proper waste disposal is a crucial matter for sustainable stadium operations.
Taking your feedback seriously, we will prioritize the following three points through the expansion of dedicated collection bins to realize a more comfortable and smoother stadium operation:
1. Maximizing the "Quality" and "Quantity" of Resource Recycling
The "paper containers" adopted for stadium gourmet this season allow for more efficient recycling (resource recovery) by minimizing stains from moisture and oil. By expanding the installation area and encouraging more people to separate food and drink leftovers, we will ensure more reliable reuse as paper resources. Additionally, as a new initiative for resource circulation, we plan to start "composting" collected food leftovers from the match against Urawa Reds on Saturday, April 18th.
2. Maintaining Stadium Hygiene and Aesthetics
This will prevent "dripping" and "odors" caused by liquid from food leftovers or drinks leaking inside the trash cans. By keeping pathways and areas around trash cans clean, we will create an environment where all visitors can use the concourse more comfortably.
3. Reducing Disposal Stress and Ensuring Smooth Traffic Flow
By making it possible to complete the process of "emptying contents and then separating containers" in each trash can area, we eliminate confusion during disposal. This will allow for smooth waste disposal without congestion, even during halftime or after the match.
