Announcement Regarding Overhaul of Waste Separation Rules at Mercari Stadium, Principle Shift to Paper Food and Beverage Containers, and Establishment of "Eco-Stations"

We would like to announce that, starting from the Meiji Yasuda J1 Hyakunen Koso League Regional League Round EAST Section 2 match against Yokohama F. Marinos on Saturday, February 14, we will be refreshing our waste separation rules at Mercari Stadium, switching to paper containers for stadium gourmet items as a general rule, and establishing new "eco-stations" for waste collection.

Background of this Initiative

In our goal of building a rich local community centered around the stadium, environmental preservation is one of our top priorities. With over 500,000 visitors to Mercari Stadium in the 2025 season, we believe it is our responsibility to leverage our outreach capabilities to promote a circular economy together with the local community.

This refresh aims to significantly reduce plastic waste generated from the stadium and strongly promote the realization of an environmentally friendly stadium.

Initiative Details

1. "Stadium Gourmet" evolves to be eco-friendly and easy to carry (containers generally made of paper)

In collaboration with our club partner Toyo Seikan Group Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Takuji Nakamura), we will generally switch the containers for "Stadium Gourmet (Staguru)" offered at the stadium's popular food and beverage stalls from conventional plastic to "paper containers" which have a pleasant feel and lower environmental impact. We will continue to promote projects for the replacement of food containers with more environmentally friendly materials in the future.

・Plastic-free: This initiative will significantly reduce plastic waste generated from the stadium.

・Insulation and Convenience: Paper containers offer high insulation, allowing warm items to be safely carried to your seat.

・Smarter and Reduced Waste Volume: Compared to plastic containers, paper containers are flexible and can be stacked or folded, making them less bulky for disposal and allowing for smart disposal. This reduces the volume of waste and leads to more efficient collection and transportation.

    2. New "Eco-Stations" combine "clarity" and "ease of disposal"

To address visitor feedback such as "I don't know how to separate" and "I'm not sure where to dispose of waste," and to significantly improve the ease of separation, we will expand our waste collection points, "Eco-Stations."

・New Eco-Stations inside the stadium: New "Eco-Stations" will be installed on the main 2F concourse. By adopting a highly visible design, we will ensure a clear flow for smooth and easy disposal.

    3. Intuitive Separation Rules (Refreshed to 9 Categories)

In conjunction with the switch to paper containers, we will update our waste separation categories to be simpler and more efficient for resource recovery. At each Eco-Station, staff and signage will provide guidance to support smooth separation.

    Separation Category

    ① Burnable waste

    ② Wooden chopsticks

    ③ Paper cups

    ④ PET bottles

    ⑤ PET bottle caps

    ⑥ Paper containers

⑦ Bottles and cans (outside area only)

⑧ Leftover food (eco-stations inside and outside the venue only)

⑨ Leftover drinks (eco-stations inside and outside the venue only)

    Start Date

To be introduced from Saturday, February 14, 2026, for the match against Yokohama F. Marinos

We aim to create a "sustainable viewing environment" that connects the best stadium gourmet experience to the next generation. We hope to build a new Mercari Stadium together with our supporters. We ask for your understanding and cooperation.
