Since the J.League's founding, Kashima Antlers has won 20 titles, becoming one of Japan's leading big clubs. Their entry into the league was said to be 99.9999% impossible, with a hometown that was difficult to access and a sparsely populated rural area. Yet, they boast an unparalleled strength in decisive matches, with a 70% winning rate in cup finals and championships. Why have they become the most titled club in Japan? Noriko Terano, who has covered the J.League for many years, spent nearly three years interviewing players, staff, alumni, and football-related personnel. This passionate book re-examines the meaning of "Kashima-ness." From Zico to many active players, alumni, related parties, and former J.League players who have competed against Antlers, the book portrays Kashima Antlers through numerous "voices."
