A circle of hometowns

Restaurant: Mona Cafe

A relaxing cafe where you can enjoy "monaka," a classic Japanese sweet.
Opened in September 2019, this is a cozy cafe that primarily serves monaka. They are particular about their ingredients, sourcing their crispy monaka wafers (the shell of the monaka) from a specialty shop in Asakusa that was established in 1850. Their recommended monaka is "Honey Candy Butter x Anko." The honey candy butter is handmade by the owner, who learned the recipe in Hawaii, and the moderately sweet coarse red bean paste, with a hint of saltiness, is exquisite. You can also enjoy monaka such as "Classic Anko," "Custard," and "Anko x Custard." The "Anmitsu," a king among sweets, is also delicious, with soft red bean paste, black honey, mochi balls, fruit, agar jelly, and gyuhi. They also offer popular drinks for women, such as "Coffee for Monaka," "Tapioca Milk Tea," and "Matcha Milk with Matcha Whip." You can enjoy monaka for tea time in the simple interior of the shop, or take them to go, making them perfect as New Year's greetings.
