Teqball Report: Kashima Antlers Youth (8/14)

The August Teqball Report showcases what we did after the morning training on Sunday, August 14.

This time, we'll introduce a passionate lefty showdown between third-year students Hayato Nishikori and Asahi Komatsu.

Both are left-footed players; Nishikori is skilled at intricate ball control and dribbling, while Komatsu, also left-footed, excels at powerful dribbling and shooting.

The special rule for this match was "no dominant foot allowed."
Since both are left-footed, they were forbidden from using their left foot and had to play using only their right foot, chest, and head.
Before the match, teammates predicted that Komatsu, who is usually good at playing with both feet, would have the advantage, but what was the result...?

The game started with Nishikori's serve.

In the beginning, both players were cautious since they couldn't use their dominant foot, but after a few rallies, they started to employ various tactics using their thighs and heads.

Komatsu, who gradually got the hang of it, tried to send a difficult ball to Nishikori, but...

He failed repeatedly, and the score gap widened rapidly... (laughs)

In the end, Nishikori's powerful header scored the winning point, and contrary to pre-match predictions, Nishikori won overwhelmingly with an 11-1 victory.
Nishikori commented that his winning factor was "playing carefully," while Komatsu attributed his loss to "trying too many flashy plays."

As players reach youth age, they become quite capable of maintaining rallies, so we plan to increasingly incorporate rules with limitations to promote skill improvement.

Next time, we plan to hold a challenge event for first-year students!
