◆Quarterfinals 11:00 Kick-off

Kashima 0(0-0.0-0 extra time 0-0.0-2)2 Atlético Mineiro

Members: Yamada, Nakajima Ryo, Tamaki, Namaisawa, Nemoto, Fujii, Ishii, Kikuchi (80min Hiramatsu), Saito, Furuya (50min Sugiyama), Kurimata

From the start of the first half, we pushed the game. With solid defense centered around Namaisawa, we quickly connected the ball to the front line after winning possession, creating decisive chances, but couldn't score. The opponent also took shots, but most were from outside the penalty area, and we didn't allow them to create any decisive opportunities. In the second half, the opponent pressed for a longer period, but we defended firmly in front of the goal, and the momentum was with Kashima. The pace did not change even in extra time. We capitalized on the opponent's aggressive play and had a decisive scoring chance in the second half of extra time, but missed it. Immediately after, with 30 seconds left before what seemed like a penalty shootout, we conceded a crucial goal when the defense was caught behind, and a cross was met in the center. Finally, we brought Tamaki forward to take a chance, but in additional time, we conceded a second goal from a counter-attack, ending the match. We were eliminated in the quarterfinals. It was a regrettable defeat, especially since the game had been going Kashima's way.
