South Korea expedition (August 12)

On this expedition to Jeju Island, South Korea, we awoke to a cloudy sky and a cool ocean breeze, making the 27℃ temperature feel surprisingly refreshing compared to Japan. However, the sea breeze brought high humidity, leaving us feeling a bit sticky.

After a morning walk, we did some stretching in a nearby open field and returned to the hotel. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of options.

Morning training was held from 9:00 AM to 10:40 AM at the nearby Gunchanghak Stadium, the match venue. The ground was natural grass, and the condition of the pitch was excellent.

We started training with a 15-minute run led by Coach Okawa. We then moved on to passing and control, one-on-one play, shooting from formations, and finished with crosses and shots.

Although we trained in an excellent environment, Director Nemoto gave us some stern words due to a few too many mistakes.

While we practiced on the sub-ground, Yokohama FC, Real Betis, and Werder Bremen trained on the main stadium at different times. Busan and Celta also practiced on the sub-ground. We were able to observe the training of players from various countries.
After returning to the hotel for lunch and a short break, we spent about an hour exploring the city. We experienced the market's atmosphere and enjoyed a change of pace along the nearby coast.

The representative meeting was held at 5:00 PM. Following the draw, Antlers were placed in Group E. Unfortunately, it's an irregular league format, and we ended up in a three-team group for the league stage.

A: Suwon (Korea), Hoffenheim (Germany), Yokohama FC, Real Betis
B: Boin Middle School (Korea), Santos (Brazil), Yanbian (China), Gwangju (Korea)
C: Busan (Korea), Celta (Spain), Cerezo Osaka, Bucheon (Korea)
D: Jeonbuk (Korea), Liege (Belgium), Shonan Bellmare
E: Jeju (Korea), Werder Bremen (Germany), Kashima Antlers

Antlers' Schedule:
Match 1: vs. Werder Bremen (Germany) - 5:00 PM Kick-off
Match 2: vs. Jeju (Korea) - 5:00 PM Kick-off
We will be playing against the local team.
Since there are only three teams, only the first-place team will advance to the upper tournament. A lower tournament will also be held, but we aim to finish first.

Other matches are scheduled for 10 AM or 5 PM, avoiding the hottest part of the day. There will also be water breaks.

We returned to the lodging, had a brief meeting, and went to bed.
