History of Establishment
In February 1991, Sumitomo Metal Soccer Club was chosen as one of the J.League participating clubs, with Kashima Town (now Kashima City), Kamisu Town (now Kamisu City), and Hasaki Town (now Kamisu City) as its home towns. In October 1991, Kashima Antlers FC Co., Ltd. was established with investment from 5 local governments and 43 companies (at the time). The professional football club "Kashima Antlers" began its activities in April 1992.

Origin of Club Name
The "Antler" in Antlers refers to a deer's branch-like horn. It is inspired by the deer of Kashima Jingu Shrine and the character "茨" (Ibara) in Ibaraki Prefecture. It conveys the meaning of being widely loved and courageously confronting challenges in battle.
Club Color: Antlers Red
It symbolizes the burning passion for football. It is also inspired by the color of the rose, Ibaraki Prefecture's prefectural flower.
