Open Stadium 2017 Player Showdown Event

On Saturday, December 9th, we held Open Stadium 2017. Blessed with clear weather, approximately 3,500 people attended.

The Open Stadium featured its first-ever player showdown event. The player showdown event was divided into the Mitsuo team and the Soga team, but when players were asked for their preference, almost all of them chose the Mitsuo team, a running gag. The player oath was delivered by Sunshine Machida, who was just as high-spirited as the original. Former Giants player Matsui, I mean Oda, was entrusted with leading the warm-up for the showdown. Since none of the other players followed him, he ended up warming up alone. The showdown involved tug-of-war, musical chairs, and recreational games. Additionally, TWICE was performed on the Players on Stage.

【Tug-of-war】
In the first round, Ogasawara declared he would seriously go for the win, and he did so. In the second round, Team Mitsuo's representative Kawamata faced many players from Team Soga, and Team Mitsuo still won. The final match was a one-on-one between Team Mitsuo's representative Suzuki and Team Soga's representative Nagaki, which Nagaki won. Nagaki then had to send a message of love to his wife. Suzuki, though angry, saying "You lost on purpose!", still delivered the message of love properly.

【Musical Chairs】
Eight players from Team Mitsuo and Team Soga participated in musical chairs. Various gags were incorporated, such as Umebachi being stripped and multiple Kawamatas appearing. Kawamata, who overwhelmed with power, won the match, making it two consecutive wins for Team Mitsuo.

【Recreational Games】
After two events, Team Mitsuo was victorious, but Soga bowed his head on behalf of Team Soga, and the winner of the recreational game would be the overall champion. In the recreational game, players played in positions different from their usual ones, so Suzuki and Bueno played as goalkeepers. The referees were the injured Kanamori and Ito. Soga played as a forward. He scored several goals, but referee Kanamori repeatedly called offsides, and the goals were disallowed. Soga, dissatisfied with the ruling, was given a red card. The match ended with Team Mitsuo winning thanks to goals from Leo Silva and Suntae.

Oda, Kubota, Machida, Teanabe, and Tanaka performed TWICE in Santa costumes. There was a mishap where their costumes slipped down, but they delivered a spectacular? dance to the end.
