We are pleased to announce that Mercari Stadium, managed by Kashima Antlers, will install 24 new normal chargers for electric vehicles (EVs) and begin offering service on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
We will introduce 24 normal chargers with 6kW output, the largest scale at a domestic sports facility, and utilize the stadium parking lot as a charging infrastructure for the local community.
Achieving zero CO2 emissions EV charging with locally produced and consumed energy
The Japanese government has set a target of "installing 300,000 EV chargers by 2030" (Note 1). However, compared to urban areas, development is lagging in rural and suburban areas, making it challenging to balance convenience and environmental considerations. In light of this situation, we have established an EV charging environment at Mercari Stadium that utilizes renewable energy. The chargers installed this time will be supplied with locally produced and consumed renewable energy (green energy) used in the operation of Mercari Stadium (Note 2). This will realize "zero-emission charging" that emits no CO2 not only when driving but also when charging. Furthermore, through the local production and consumption of renewable energy, we will promote the utilization of the "create, use, and circulate" energy model in the region.

Supporting EV adoption in local communities and accommodating daily use as clean infrastructure
By positioning the stadium as a regional energy hub, we aim to build a new system that allows local residents to regularly use locally generated clean electricity. The Mercari Stadium parking lot will be developed as a publicly accessible charging station that local residents can use daily, helping to alleviate EV users' concerns about "lack of charging spots" and "range anxiety."

EV chargers are available when there are no restrictions on parking lot use due to Kashima Antlers matches or events.
In addition, by charging at Mercari Stadium, users can directly utilize clean electricity generated in the region. This has a lower environmental impact compared to typical charging using electricity derived from fossil fuels and embodies Kashima Antlers' philosophy of "from our hometown to a sustainable future."
With the introduction of this charging infrastructure, Kashima Antlers will continue its efforts to utilize clean energy and contribute to society, further strengthening its sustainability activities through sports as a club that contributes to the development of the local community.
