"A new sensation in training without weights"
Power Plate is a unique acceleration training machine that provides stretching, training, and relaxation all in one device.
Anyone would wonder how a full workout can be achieved simply by holding poses on the plate without using weights. The origin of this technology dates back to research on the changes that occur in astronauts' bodies. It is known that astronauts who return to Earth after missions in space are so weakened that they cannot stand up on their own. This is because their muscles and bones decrease, making it seem as if they have aged rapidly.
Research revealed that "gravity," a commonplace presence on Earth, plays a crucial role. In order to maintain muscle strength and bone density, it is necessary to experience gravitational acceleration, and muscles and bones that lose this stimulus rapidly weaken. Research was conducted to prevent and restore the physical strength of astronauts, leading to the development of acceleration training (Acceleration Training®). Guus van der Meer, a Dutch Olympic trainer and the developer of Power Plate, focused on astronaut training programs and applied them to the training of top athletes. This was the beginning of Power Plate.
For example, a person weighing 70kg can apply a load of 1.8g (1.8 times gravity) by experiencing vibrations at 30Hz per second on the Power Plate. This is equivalent to training with 58kg of weights. In this way, sufficient training load can be applied without holding weights.
"Reduced training time achieved by 3D high-speed vibration"
When the Power Plate vibrates, muscles contract to support the body in the opposite direction of the applied vibration. This reflexive movement strengthens the muscles.
What significantly distinguishes Power Plate's vibrations from other vibrating devices is that the direction of vibration is three-dimensional: front-back, left-right, and up-down. With high-speed 3D vibrations at 25 to 50 times per second, muscles can be loaded from all directions.
The poses taken on the plate can effectively load necessary muscles, sometimes stretch them, and also provide relaxation effects. By repeatedly activating all muscles, both inner and outer, in small increments in this way, training time is reduced.
