CLUB HISTORY

Its predecessor was Sumitomo Metal Industries Soccer Club, founded in 1947. In 1991, it was an amateur team competing in the second division of the Japan Soccer League (JSL).

At the time, my hometown, a mixture of traditional fishing and farming villages and the Kashima Coastal Industrial Zone, faced problems of a small population and social division.

Aiming to revitalize the region, we sought to join the professional league (J.League). Initially, we were harshly criticized, being told, "Participation in the inaugural year is 99.9999% impossible," but the staff involved in the negotiations never gave up.

To seize the 0.0001% chance of success, a covered, exclusive-use stadium needed to be built. This difficult undertaking, which could have been dismissed as "impossible if there was a long spell of rain," was accomplished, and the clubhouse was also completed, giving birth to the Antlers' "home."

The dream story that began with the arrival of "God" Zico. The history of over 30 years of continuous pursuit of "professionalism" is now known to all.
