2018 Kickoff Party

On February 5, we held a kickoff party in Tokyo and invited our sponsors and other related parties. The venue was five times larger than last year's, and many sponsor booths lined the perimeter of the party hall.

After an opening video, President Shono took the stage and gave a presentation, explaining the club's vision, new players, and aspirations for the season.

Following this, representatives from 15 official sponsors took the stage, and players presented them with pennants. Mr. Kinya Seto, President and CEO of LIXIL Corporation, gave a speech on behalf of the official sponsors.

Furthermore, Manager Oiwa addressed all attendees on behalf of the team.

At the venue, a blimp was flown to capture aerial photos of the attendees.

During the subsequent kagami-biraki (sake barrel breaking ceremony), sponsors, Manager Oiwa, and Player's Association President Shoji also participated, wearing happi coats. The toast was led by Mr. Fumiaki Koizumi, Representative Director and COO of Mercari, Inc. As usual, the toast was made with the chant of "Goal, Goal, Goal."

Afterwards, a social hour commenced, where players took photos and signed autographs for the attendees. Many sponsors gathered around Uchida, who returned to the team this season.

During the social hour, new players presented NIKE's new uniforms and NEWYORKER's official suits, hosted by C.R.O. Nakata. Yamaguchi, Oki, and Anzai wore the new uniforms and took the stage. Anzai also performed his specialty gag as a greeting. Uchida and Inukai then took the stage to introduce NEWYORKER's official suits.

After presenting pennants to the adboard sponsors, the players returned to the stage. There, a commemorative gift was presented to Mr. Izumi Hayashi, Executive Officer and Head of the Kanto-Shinetsu Branch of Suntory Spirits Ltd., who has been a sponsor for 20 years.

As a representative of the shareholders, Mr. Hiroshi Tomono, advisor to Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, gave a greeting, and with a Sanbonjime (three-clap hand gesture), everyone prayed for the team to win all titles this season.

Finally, the players exited in order of their uniform numbers. Manager Oiwa, who was the last to leave, bowed deeply to the sponsors before departing, bringing the kickoff party to a close.
