On Friday, July 1st, a press conference was held in the interview room at Kashima Soccer Stadium with Kushibiki and Ueda, who were selected as members of the Japan national football team (men's) for the 31st Olympic Games (2016/Rio de Janeiro).

First and foremost, I'm simply delighted. I also feel that I must do my best for all the teammates I've fought alongside so far. Having been selected, I intend to achieve solid results.

It's a great honor to be selected this time. The moment I heard I was selected, I was extremely happy. However, there are players I've fought alongside who weren't selected this time, so I want to fight hard for them as well.
