We would like to announce that on Tuesday, July 12, one player from our top team tested positive for COVID-19 in a PCR test.
The player reported a headache and sore throat on the morning of July 12 and tested negative in a regular COVID-19 antigen test designated by the J.League conducted on the same morning. However, they developed a fever in the afternoon of the same day, so a PCR test was performed, which returned a positive result. The player is currently recuperating separately from the team under appropriate guidance and measures. Furthermore, based on the J.League's COVID-19 countermeasures guidelines, contact tracing was conducted, and no close contacts were identified.
All other players and team staff tested negative in the regular J.League-designated tests conducted on the morning of July 12. Today, Wednesday, July 13, the morning practice was canceled, and all players and staff voluntarily underwent antigen tests, all of which returned negative results. Currently, no symptoms such as feeling unwell have been confirmed.
The Emperor's Cup JFA 102nd All Japan Football Championship Round 16 match against Gamba Osaka, scheduled for July 13, will proceed as planned, with players and staff registered excluding the affected player.
