On Saturday, April 2, during the 2022 Meiji Yasuda J1 League Matchday 6 against Shimizu S-Pulse, Diego Pituca was sent off after kicking a plastic bottle that had been placed in front of the Antlers bench immediately after he was substituted out of the match. The plastic bottle flew toward the spectator stands, hitting the fence in the front row of the main stand, and both the bottle and water made contact with spectators.
Such behavior is unacceptable under any circumstances, and the club takes this matter very seriously. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was endangered by this act, to all spectators who came to the stadium, and to all football fans and related parties.
After the match, the club issued a stern warning to Pituca. Moving forward, we will thoroughly instruct our players to prevent recurrence, investigate the scope of impact of this act, and work with the J.League to respond appropriately.
