■Purpose of the Event:
The first "Open Stadium" was held in September 2011 to commemorate the recovery of Kashima Stadium, which had been damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, and was the only home venue for major professional sports that was unable to host official matches for three months. The event aimed to widely open the "returned stadium" to local residents and fans, sharing the "joy of having a stadium." Since then, the event has continued with the same purpose, and this year marks its seventh iteration.
