This project aims to reduce single-use plastic waste in sports events, which is one of the causes of global environmental issues such as ocean pollution and extreme weather. Led by The Nippon Foundation, the project has been expanding its network by recruiting participants, and currently involves 36 athletes and 27 sports organizations (as of March 19, 2025), making it a cross-sectoral initiative within the sports world.
Kashima Antlers has been participating in this project since last year. To date, the club has promoted "bottle-to-bottle" horizontal recycling at club facilities and surrounding areas, engaged in environmental awareness activities with local children, and collaborated with partner companies and local governments on climate change countermeasures and initiatives for realizing a circular economy.
By participating in this project again this year, we will work together with our fans and supporters to create a rich sports culture for the future and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society where everyone can enjoy sports with peace of mind.

■Plastic Waste Reduction Action Pledge Campaign
We will be running a campaign where you can pledge what you can do to reduce single-use plastic waste. After registering your pledge on the dedicated website below, please post your plastic waste reduction pledge and actions on social media with a hashtag. By participating in the campaign, you will receive information from The Nippon Foundation, including invitations to events where you can participate alongside HEROs PLEDGE partner athletes.
