Sunday, November 1st: Mixed & Beginner Tournament

On Sunday, November 1, we held a MIX & Beginner tournament at the Antlers Clubhouse Ground. [Tournament Format and Rules] ・Four teams played a round-robin tournament, with rankings determined by points in a playoff. ・Beginner teams must have at least one beginner or player over 40 years old on the field at all times. ・MIX teams must have at least one female player on the field (if there are two female players, 6 players can play). ・Each match consisted of two 7-minute halves. ・Back passes are allowed. ・Goals scored by female players count as 2 points. ・MIX teams can switch to a beginner team consisting only of male players partway through the match! ・Local 3-foul rule (a second penalty kick is awarded from the 4th foul onwards). Four teams gathered for this tournament, and a fierce battle unfolded for the championship. The matches were exciting from the very first game, with many goals scored. In the match between FC Iku Men's and Kento Delicatters, FC Iku Men's took an early 2-0 lead with a goal from a female player. However, Kento Delicatters countered and calmly scored in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, reducing the deficit to one point and beginning their comeback. They then pulled away with additional goals, including two more goals from female players in the second half, securing a dominant 7-2 victory for Kento Delicatters. In the match between FC Iku Men's and Sekkies, FC Iku Men's scored a goal with two female players exchanging passes. However, Sekkies fought back, equalizing with a goal from a female player, and then scoring another to take the lead, which they held until the end of the match. Sekkies won 3-2. photo

After the preliminary rounds, the playoffs saw Group 1st place Sekkies facing Group 2nd place Kento Delicatters, and Group 3rd place FC Iku Men's facing Group 4th place Team Daigoro. In the match between FC Iku Men's and Team Daigoro, Team Daigoro took an early lead. However, FC Iku Men's quickly equalized, and the first half ended 1-1. In the second half, FC Iku Men's scored to take the lead. Just when it seemed they would hold on for the win, Team Daigoro equalized in the closing moments of the match, sending it into a penalty shootout. Both teams scored their first penalties, but then both missed their second and third penalties, leading to sudden death. In the fourth penalty, Iku Men's missed, and Team Daigoro, without feeling any pressure, calmly scored to secure the victory. In the match between Sekkies and Kento Delicatters, Sekkies' goalkeeper caught the ball, dribbled it into the opponent's half, and, despite being in a one-on-one situation with the opposing goalkeeper, calmly passed to a free teammate to score the opening goal. However, Kento Delicatters equalized just before halftime, and the first half ended. In the second half, both teams traded attacks, but the match ended without further goals, going into a penalty shootout. Sekkies, shooting first, scored, but Kento Delicatters, shooting second, missed. Both teams scored their second penalties. In the decisive third penalty, Sekkies calmly scored to win the match. photo

The playoff matches were nail-biters, with some even going to penalty shootouts, and Sekkies emerged as the worthy champions. Throughout this tournament, the mixed teams truly shined, with each team showcasing their unique characteristics, such as positioning female players upfront to aim for high scores, or players returning to defend their goal.
