The opening match was an away game against Kashiwa Reysol U-18. Three first-year players, new to the Kashima Youth team, were selected for the starting lineup.

Although Kashima Youth had control of the game from the kickoff, they conceded a goal in the 13th minute due to a momentary lapse. Despite conceding the opening goal, Kashima Youth, who showed high-intensity play in both offense and defense, did not relinquish the initiative.
