China Expedition (8/3)

The youth team on their expedition to China reached the final day of the tournament. Unlike the usual 9 AM kick-offs, they faced Espanyol from Spain in the 5th place play-off match at 4 PM.

Instead of playing their usual 9 AM match, they went to watch a match between Nice and Portugal. This match went to a penalty shootout, with Nice emerging victorious.

As expected, the opponent pressed from the start of the match. They held possession more often, and we conceded first from a cross, which we had been wary of.

After that, the opponent was quick to transition from defense to offense, creating several dangerous counterattacks.

While enduring a period of pressure, in the 30th minute of the first half, Yanagimachi scored a brilliant free kick in front of the goal to equalize.

Towards the end of the first half, as the opponent's intensity dropped, we created scoring opportunities through individual skill and combination play, but lacked accuracy in our shots and couldn't score.

Just before the end of the first half, we allowed a dribble breakthrough from a counterattack and conceded a goal, making it 1-2.

Early in the second half, we conceded again from a corner kick at the near post. Although we were two goals down, the game continued in a similar fashion to the first half, and we patiently dealt with the opponent's counter-attacking tactics.

We created several chances in the second half and aimed for a goal, but we couldn't score and lost the match.

The opponent was effective at converting their chances into goals and possessed excellent shooting technique.
