On Saturday, August 24, the Kashima Antlers School Select Team departed for an expedition to Xi'an, China.

The tournament the school select team is participating in is the 2018 China-Japan International Youth Football Invitational Tournament. It will be a round-robin league format with six teams competing.

The team is comprised of players selected from students attending the school in the Kashima, Norte, and Tsukuba areas.The team gathered at Narita Airport and enthusiastically declared their resolve to their parents. Coach Kogure explained the purpose of the expedition and strengthened the team's unity. He also spoke about the importance of being prepared for the long journey ahead.


They arrived at Shanghai Airport around 5:00 PM and had dinner during the time between completing immigration procedures and heading to Xi'an. After dinner, they used the time to write down their individual goals for the tournament and what the team should work on in their "expedition guide."

They departed Shanghai Airport after 9:00 PM and arrived at Xi'an Airport around 11:00 PM. Everyone slept soundly on the plane. After safely arriving at Xi'an Airport, they took a bus to a hotel in the city.
They arrived at the hotel in about an hour. By the time they arrived at the hotel, it was already past midnight.They greeted the hotel staff and went to bed to prepare for the tournament starting tomorrow.
