It was officially decided that Besiktasga from Turkey would withdraw from the tournament on this day. Due to this, Group B became a three-team battle, and to advance to the semifinals, it was crucial to either earn points or, in the event of a loss, concede as few goals as possible. A tough match was anticipated, especially since they had lost 1-5 to the same opponent last year.

Kashima Youth was highly motivated from the warm-up before the match and played with focus from the start. In the 28th minute of the first half, Shinozaki broke free from a corner kick and shot, but it went wide of the goal. Then, in the 44th minute of the first half, a perfectly curved shot from outside the penalty area found the side netting, giving the opponent the lead. In the second half, Inter maintained possession and created several chances, but could not score. Towards the end of the match, Kashima Youth attacked Inter's half several times but failed to get a shot on target, and the match ended 0-1.

Comment from Coach Kumagai
"We expected a tough match against a strong opponent. However, the players played with spirit from the start. As a minimum result, we kept our chances of advancing to the semifinals alive. I felt that the players were definitely growing. It was unavoidable that we spent a lot of time defending throughout both halves, but we also showed a desire to win by actively trying to score from counter-attacks. We must accept the loss, but we fought with focus until the end."

During this match, Japanese residents in Johor Bahru came to cheer on the players, giving them strength.
