J-School Winter Camp

From December 29-30, 2014, the J-School Winter Camp was held at Kashima Heights, with teams of 3rd to 6th graders from Antlers Clinic participating.
Initially, there was some nervousness, but after two days with new friends, they experienced both joy and frustration together. Winning isn't everything, but they were able to work together towards victory. Although the results may not have been what they hoped for, I believe this experience will definitely contribute to the children's future growth.

I was in charge of the 3rd graders, and it was clear to see how the children, who initially didn't know each other's names or faces, grew closer by playing soccer and living together for two days. For these two days, I continuously told them to think and act for themselves, both in soccer and in their daily lives. The games were so intense that some children cried at the end, which was very memorable. I hope they continue to have many experiences and grow even further.

In the final match, we faced a tough situation after conceding the first goal, but the players fought tenaciously and managed to equalize right before the end of the match. We then won in a penalty shootout.
Throughout the two days, in each match, I saw the players identify their own challenges and consciously try to address them in the next game. I believe that this attitude throughout the team is why we were able to win this time. I hope they overcome these challenges in future clinics and move on to the next step.

【Comment from Coach Tarui】
The 5th-grade team participated in this tournament as their last training camp of 2014, with players from various areas of Ibaraki Prefecture coming together to fight as a team for two days. It was great that we were able to win against students from other J-League clubs' schools. I hope they use this experience for their future growth. Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the parents who, despite the busy year-end, allowed their children to participate in this tournament and even provided transportation. Thank you very much.

The 6th graders behaved in a way that set an example for the younger students in their daily lives. Although the results weren't great, on the second day, they showed a performance that was hard to believe came from an impromptu team. I have high hopes for their future growth.
